I am sorry I have not posted in over a week. I was on vacation. Although I did do some reading over the break, I have done a lot less that desired. I am up to page 60 in the Apple Objective-C Developer's guide. My hope was to be done with reading up on Objective-C by the beginning of September, or the 1/3 mark. Nevertheless, I have still 1/3 of the Apple guide to complete.
Unfortunately, I am still flustered. I wish I can take a magic pill and understand everything. I have read through a lot but when I encounter it again, it seems that I have forgotten everything about it. For example, today I am back reading about protocols. Kochan and Hillegass had an entire chapter about it. However, it feels almost (but not quite) like I am reading it for the first time. I am not sure why it is not sticking.
Well, anyway, I received my Xcode Unleashed book in the mail along with another interesting book, iPad for the Enterprise. This is really what I am interested in. I have no plans to write the next great personal app. All I want is to add value to my company with internal apps. Of course, if I get fired or if consulting opportunities present themselves, I will not say no. It is about survival here in the US. There is a lot of unemployment and underemployment. I have to stay competitive at my tender age of 48.
