Got to finish the chapter on property lists. I have now been working with Objective C for over 3 months and there was a point yesterday when I got so frustrated and depressed that I almost screamed! The challenge at the end of the chapter should have been so easy but it wasn't for me. A stupid array I could not figure out how to get into the answer. There were other things that I had to consult others' code to figure out. Why oh why is this not easy for me? I think I am a pretty smart guy but I feel sooooo junior when it comes to this development. In fairness, I am somewhat good at locating how to find answers but I am working what is considered "simple" stuff.
There is really a lot to understand with this language and I am really trying hard. I will not give up and the thing that is keeping me going is the knowledge that I am less than 30% of the way through to my goal. I have now hit the section on "building my first app" which incidentally was a section in the Kochan book. Speaking of the Kochan book, at times I think that it may be to my benefit to redo the entire book, or at least read it w/o doing all of the crazy exercises. All depends on where I am at the end of this book. There is still the Apple Objective-C "book" that I have yet to work with. That could be a nice detour before I get to the Hillegass iOS book, which looks like a monster!
