Regarding the table view, today I sat and sat and reviewed everything again. Chapter 8 I think is good but my brain is slow to understand. I have been getting down on myself, especially when I see people claim that they have ramped up in a month or two with iOS. I consider myself sort of bright but I was not a computer science major nor do I stay up night scouring the web for design patterns. I love the box. I love the problem that needs to be solved and I love using the code to get me there. To me it is less about technology than the creativity of the build.
So today I talked to myself once again -- frustrated by my lack of immediate understanding of chapter 8. I even got to the point where I was thinking about asking my physician for some adderal (the magic pill) to help me focus better. Six months I have been at it and I still have problem with the "self" directive. Well, anyway, I sat and really worked through the beginning of the chapter. I went online and looked at other discussions of UITableView. I finally got it, at least from the perspective that I understand it line by line. Again, if you ask me to produce this from scratch, I would look at you like you have three heads. Nevertheless, I got past that requeue stuff and cell declaration and have moved into easier territory. It is now discussing the protocol methods of the table delegate and I am getting it. I left it at a point where I can start with some low hanging fruit tomorrow. Maybe that will point me in a positive direction for rest of tomorrow's session.
