Page 300 !!!

Made it to the exercises of Chapter 13. If this were a regular chapter as opposed to a skim chapter, I would have reread it multiple times. It is loaded with material and is impossible to digest in one read. However, that is all I have been instructed to do, so I will obey. There was a point (no pun intended) where it got so ridiculous that I skipped a few pages in the late 280s.

Now if I am supposed to skim this chapter, why are there 10 exercises to do?!? I hope Kochan does not make reference to this chapter like he does with other prior chapters as that would be not cool. Nevertheless, I have done 5 of the first 6 exercises. I am far from perfect on all of these as I need to refer to the book. I could not even complete #4.

Anyway, I am up to page 300 so since today is the 12th, that puts me at 18 days to cover another 177 pages. Tomorrow I will finish the rest of the exercises and start chapter 14, Introduction to the Foundation Framework. Sounds scary.

As I go through all of these things I wonder what would have been if I had formal development training. There is so much logic involved and my guess is that I could have done better in my consulting life if stretched myself a little more. I already see myself looking at the work I am doing in Access differently. I am reusing less and less code and am cleaning up an app that has copies of objects everywhere.

Looking forward to getting to part II of the book sometime tomorrow. Happy 300!
