I like these short chapters!

As I am one-quarter of the way through this book, I would have to say I wish I started with this book first as I find it rather easy so far. I look back on the Kochan book and realize that it was quite challenging which now makes me feel like I really accomplished something.

Today I read chapters 6, 7 and I am almost done with chapter 8, the one on pointers. I like the chapter on pointers even though it is short. It gets really into how to reference an address, how to dereference, etc. I think when I finish it I will read it again.

I am unsure what Hillegass is expected out of the reader of this unless he feels that this will act as a prerequisite for the much more detailed iOS 5 book coming up soon.

Speaking of other books, the Applying UML and Patters arrived today. It is a college textbook. It assumes I understand aspects of OO. I don't get it. Why would I buy an introduction book if it did not describe every detail of I want?

In any event, I went to my bookshelf and took out my Just Java 1.1 book from 1998. It has about 45 pages of OO information. I'll give that a shot and see where it goes.
